Rotary District 6450 is seeking candidates for District Governor for Rotary Year 2027-2028.
Nominations
Those interested in serving as District Governor for Rotary year 2027-2028 should review the information presented here. Nominations will open on October 1, 2024.
Pre-requisites
Governor candidates must have served as president of a club for a full term or be a charter president of a club having served the full term from the date of charter to 30 June, provided that this period is at least six months. They need be a member-in-good-standing of our District. (RIB 15.070.4)
Timeline
The deadline for nominations is November 30, 2024 5:00 PM CDT, no exceptions. Interviews will be held December 7, 2024. Announcement of the chosen candidate will be made thereafter.
Commitment
- Serve as Governor Designee from January 1 to June 30, 2025 which includes a director position on the District Board of Directors.
- Deliver on duties as Governor Nominee for July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026;
- Governor Elect for July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, including attend the Rotary International Conventions;
- Governor July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2028;
- Immediate Past District Governor July 1, 2028 to June 30, 2029.

As governor one wears multiple hats: serve as an officer of Rotary International, representing RI to clubs in the district, CEO of District 6450 including chairing the board of directors and following district policies and guiding district volunteer leadership for all operating committees. The work starts during the Governor Nominee year. Review the Governor Nominee manual and begin taking the Learning Center courses referenced below.

Nominating Committee
The committee is elected each year at the annual meeting of the district, normally held at the annual district conference in the Spring.
District Governance
The District Board sets policies and gives general guidance for operations. The governor serves as the Board Chair and as CEO. S/he is responsible for day to day operations of the district. The officers of the district are the governor, treasurer, secretary, and chief administrative officer. The board gives guidance and overseas the work of several standing committees; while the governor gives direction and supervises the work of all the operating/service providing committees.
